Learning Between Presence and Virtuality: Mediation in Cross Reality

How can Cross Reality (XR) be meaningfully, participatorily, and accessibly integrated into higher education? The XRwise research project is developing a hybrid teaching architecture as a No-Code platform that enables encounters in a shared virtual environment, facilitating learning across physical and digital spaces. This platform demonstrates the didactic potential of XR formats and discusses the practical, didactic, and organisational challenges of real teaching contexts.

On June 23, we present a special format: lightning talks from a shared virtual space, broadcast live to the festival venues in Braunschweig and Berlin. Educators from various universities share their experiences in five minutes each – whether developing their own XR learning environments, using AR and VR in subject-specific contexts, or teaching in XR environments. On all other festival days, existing teaching and learning spaces are accessible and explorable both online and at the festival venue in Berlin. Participants can attend in person or join remotely.
